Amanda Brugel

(February 27th of 2010 to Toronto ON) Pointe Claire is a quiet community located on this part of the island of Montreal that is known as"the West Island. This West Island, to those who have never heard of it, is an extensive area that extends from Lachine until the west. Amanda Brugel's birthplace has been frequently referenced, however her brief stay was not. Brugel was raised in Courtice close to Oshawa, Ontario. She wanted to become a professional dancer but due to an explosive increase in her height, she outgrew the dance partners she had. The article she wrote about her experience revealed published by the Toronto Star that she is 6'1" tall, even when she wears heels. After I became too big for my male friends, I quit. Many ex-dancers switch to acting. In the case of Brugel it was the guidance of her drama teacher at high school that led her to take the step she wanted. Her teacher advised her to audition as Anne in the school's annual production. The teacher who suggested that she take on a part in the school's annual production. It led to a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship at York University where she attended the Theater Program which she graduated with the Bachelor in Fine Arts degree in the year 2000. The career of Brugel spans more than 20 years and she has performed in more than 60 shows that have screened on large screens and smaller ones. Her most recognizable role was as Rita (pictured beneath) on The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel, the only Canadian in the Season 1 actors of the series as well as appearing only on occasion, was the only Canadian.
